Restore your youthful appearance
Dermal Fillers are employed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles throughout the face. The most common target area for these fillers is the area around the nose, known as the nasolabial folds. These fillers can also be used to address wrinkles around the mouth, the mouth corners and wrinkles or scars on the cheeks.
The fillers can be made from hyaluronic acid, hydroxyapatite, or poly-L-lactic acid. While hydroxyapatite and poly-L-lactic acid are powerful tools for fighting anti-aging, hyaluronic-based fillers such as Restylane are among the most popular and effective treatments available today.
What are the benefits of dermal fillers?
Among the benefits of dermal fillers are:
- Immediate results without any downtime
- A decrease in signs of aging
- Restoration of the skin’s natural plumpness
- Results that look natural and last up to two years
Who is a candidate for dermal fillers?
The vast majority of doctors agree that patients should be at least 18 years old before receiving dermal fillers. This is mostly due to the fact that the patient’s facial features are still developing, as well as their psychological makeup. While there is no upper age limit for undergoing treatment with dermal fillers, the typical client usually ranges between 20 and 60 years old.
As these fillers are formulated with all-natural compounds, it is highly rare for patients to experience allergic reactions to them. They are known to be some of the best-tolerated products available in cosmetic health.
What does the procedure entail?
Just as with any other cosmetic procedure, the first step toward a successful treatment is communication. Going over the patient’s goals and concerns helps pinpoint the best approach for treatment. Taking a thorough look at the patient’s skin tone and taking pictures helps pave the way to successful results. Once the consultation has been completed, the treatment can begin.
The injection itself only takes a few seconds to administer to each target area. The area is massaged following each injection to ensure that the filler is spread evenly. Overall, this process can last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.
What is the recovery process like?
Generally speaking, recovery time depends on which filler is being used and what the treatment area is. Regardless of those factors, all patients receiving dermal fillers should avoid strenuous activity for the first 24 to 48 hours following the treatment. This helps minimize bruising and swelling, ensuring a faster recovery.
The results from hyaluronic fillers such as Restylane typically last six months to a year before they are absorbed by the body. During the consultation, a plan can be determined for follow-up visits to maintain results.
What is Restylane?
Restylane consists of a group of dermal fillers that are used to increase volume and fullness in the skin to improve the look of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds. Just like Juvéderm, Restylane products are hyaluronic acid fillers and can be used to accomplish the same goals.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) occurs naturally in our skin, helping to provide plumpness and elasticity. Over time, however, the skin’s HA diminishes, causing a loss of volume and increasing the likelihood of wrinkle and fold formation. Dermal fillers are able to make up for that loss in volume.
