One of today’s major beauty standards is a round, firm and full backside. If you would like a tighter, more shapely backside, you might consider a Brazilian Butt Lift, a procedure designed to give you the curving, perky and shapely derriere that perfectly compliments the proportions of your body.
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian Butt Lift was named for Brazilian women who genetically tend to have rounder, fuller buttocks. If you’re wanting to achieve the same shape for your behind, unfortunately it can be hard to achieve those results with diet and exercise alone.
At Matthew Lewis Plastic Surgery, we can help you attain your aesthetic goals and give you the butt you’ve always wanted with a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. During your BBL, we will transfer fat from another part of your body into your buttocks, carefully sculpting your backside into the form and shape you want to achieve.
Is a Brazilian Butt Lift right for me?
As we age or have children, your butt can begin to sag and droop. Some women simply have a smaller or flatter butt genetically. A Brazilian Butt Lift is for those who would like to have a curvier silhouette and meet the following requirements:
- Are in good health generally
- Are at a stable, ideal weight that you can maintain
- Have proper skin laxity (no sagging skin in the buttock area)
- Have sufficient donor fat in another area of the body
- Would like to enjoy full, shapely buttocks, a better fit in clothing
- Would like to avoid implants
What happens during a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The first step is to harvest the fat from another part of your body using a liposuction technique. The area will be sculpted and slimmed, and the fat taken out. This harvested fat will then be spun in a centrifuge and purified.
Once the fat is ready, Dr. Lewis will carefully inject it into the treatment area, sculpting your results according to your aesthetic vision. Depending on the specifics of your procedure, the entire process typically takes about five hours.
What are the benefits of a Brazilian Butt Lift?
- No foreign objects inside your body
- Butt enhancement that can be customized to your preferences
- Slimmed and sculpted area where the fat was harvested
- A more natural look and feel
- Little to no recovery downtime
- Fuller, rounder buttocks
- A better proportioned, curvy physique
What should I do before my Brazilian Butt Lift?
Before your BBL, Dr. Lewis will have a personal consultation with you to answer questions, examine you, discuss your aesthetic goals, and talk about your procedure in detail.
At least a week before your procedure, stop smoking or taking blood thinners such as aspirin or other supplements that could thin the blood.
Recovery after a BBL
Your BBL recovery will take about 3-4 weeks. You may need to wear compression garments to help minimize swelling and keep harvested fat placed properly. To further ensure the results are outstanding, do not sit down directly on your buttocks, swim, or engage in sexual activity for three weeks. Sleep on your side or stomach at night for the same period. This allows the fat to settle gently and correctly.
After about two weeks, you will be able to return to work, but do not do anything strenuous. By 3-4 weeks after your procedure, you will be nearly healed. By 6-8 weeks after your procedure, with an okay from your surgeon, you will be free to exercise vigorously or do any of your other usual more strenuous activities.
Only the liposuction site will have scarring, which will be very small, so it won’t be noticeable unless the area is pretty closely inspected.
What will the results be, and how long will they last?
You’ll notice an immediate improvement in the shape of your buttocks, but the full results can take two to three months to set in. Your ultimate results will be a rounder, fuller, more curvy and shapely bottom, without the use of implants. The results of a Brazilian Butt Lift are long lasting. However, do keep in mind that weight fluctuations can affect your buttocks. Maintaining a stable weight helps to ensure your results remain outstanding.
