Two to three weeks off from work.

Pain + swelling.
Pain, swelling and soreness is to be expected. To minimize these effects, sleep with your arms elevated and take your prescription pain medication as directed by Dr. Lewis.
Limit physical activities.
Limit physical activities. Avoid exercise and most physical activities (except light walking around the house) for the first week. Wait a full six weeks before running, lifting heavy objects and engaging in other strenuous activities.
Common concern: What will my scars look like?
If you have a standard upper or extended arm lift, some degree of scarring is inevitable. However, Dr. Lewis will make sure that the lines are well-concealed. Although they may be quite noticeable immediately after surgery, the scars typically fade with time.
