Fat grafting involves removing unwanted fat from one area of your body and transferring it to a feature that is lacking volume. In this way, it slenderizes one body part while enhancing another.

What areas of the body can be enhanced with fat grafting?

There are many possibilities when it comes to transforming your face and body with fat grafting.

To begin, Dr. Lewis can harvest the fat for your procedure from virtually anywhere on the body, including your hips, belly, thighs, back and more. From there, he can transfer it to certain areas that could use a boost, such as your:

  • Face
  • Hands
  • Breasts

The benefits of fat grafting

  • Slim one area of the body while volumizing and enhancing another
  • All-natural approach uses your own body fat as a filler
  • Sculpt a younger and more attractive overall appearance
  • Safe procedure + long-lasting results

Popular Areas for Fat Grafting

Breast

Fat grafting is a great way to achieve a moderate breast size increase – especially if your chest already features a nice shape and tone. If you also have lax skin and sagging breasts, or if you desire a substantial size increase, you will need to combine your fat grafting procedure with implants. In very thin patients desiring large breast implants, Dr. Lewis will often recommend fat grafting in conjunction with the breast augmentation in order to better camouflage the implants and create a more natural look.

Face

The face is a common area to rejuvenate with fat grafting. Everything from crow’s feet and smile lines to acne scars and age-related volume can be improved with this procedure.

Hands

The hands are quick to betray your age because they are constantly exposed to the elements. A fat transfer has the potential to plump wrinkled areas, camouflage blood vessels and tendons, and take years off the appearance of your hands.

FAQ: Are fat grafting results permanent?

Fat grafting is considered to be a very long-lasting procedure. However, it’s important to note that only a percentage of the transferred fat survives, so it’s possible to lose some of your post-operative volume and you may desire an additional procedure down the road.

The day of your surgery

Step One: Fat removal

Your fat grafting procedure will begin with Dr. Lewis removing unwanted fat via liposuction. In most cases, the fat will be removed from your thighs, back or belly.

Step Two: Purify the fat

Once an adequate amount of fat has been removed, Dr. Lewis will spin it in a centrifuge to purify the cells and prepare them for the injections.

Step Three: The injections

Once the fat is purified, Dr. Lewis will use a fine needle to inject it into the feature you’re enhancing, carefully sculpting the area to achieve your ideal look.
